About me

I, Ruth Kristin Burton, born 1977 in Stavanger, Norway, am graduated as a two-way technical translator between Norwegian and English after having studied "Translation and Intercultural Communication - English", which is a three-years bachelor's degree at the University of Agder in Kristiansand.

As part of my degree I studied a variety of subjects in York in the UK in the academic year 2012/2013, including creative writing and sociolinguistics, as a student at York St John University. I ended the year in York with top grades and two congratulatory letters for my outstanding performances.

In 2011, I proof read, improved and edited the book "The search for the truth about Asperger Syndrome", a book written by Gustav Koi and released with the publisher Spiss Forlag in 2011. I also authored several sections of the texts in the book as well as coming up with ideas in the close cooperation I had with the author.

Over the years I have also contributed linguistically in many other ways, like proof reading for the Norwegian Bible page Bibelsiden and creating newsletters for some church congregations. Furthermore, I am a teacher with additional teacher education and have a lot of work experiences, mostly being from the education sector and health sector.

In 2015 I emigrated to the UK where I got married and became a step-mum in October the same year. Since then I've been living in York with my husband and focused a lot on being a housewife. I also run Burton's Language Service from my home and continue to enjoy writing and other linguistic work.

I have a very good language memory, an eye for details and a great ability to work with an intense focus on the tasks I have decided to do. I am also known for being creative.

I am committed and focused when working with my tasks, always aiming for the highest standards.
